Hi everyone! thanks for checking out my new blog. It’s a much bigger change from my old one http://headingforjapan.wordpress.com. I decided that after just a tiny bit of popularity I would try and raise the bar of quality that you should be having. So let me give you a bit of an introduction into why I’m making this blog and a bit of info into it. I wouldn’t be able to get this website to where it is without the help of yonasu, hoolan, and DumbOtaku, thanks guys!

Who am I?

Well, my name is Will, right now I’m 16 and studying in school, I plan to go to University and make a living out of something Japanese. I’m a nerd who has found a passion originally in the Japanese language but is now taking on the task of discovering everything Japanese.

Why Turning Otaku?

Well of those who don’t know an otaku is a derogatory term to  basically describe someone who’s obsessed with something. Normally people who obsessed with anime and manga and called otaku’s but I’m an otaku for everything Japanese, not just anime and manga. At least I want to be, because as you might have noticed I’m turning otaku so I’m not quite there yet, but I’m learning and I’ll get there eventually.

What are your goals from this blog?

Ahhhh…. (even though that’s my own question) obviously my goal is to turn otaku but that’s a bit vague so I’ll list a couple of goals of what I hope to accomplish

(1) Learn Japanese, this is one of my major goals and also one of my biggest passions.

(2) Pick up some knowledge on both traditional and modern Japanese culture.

(3) Obviously discover some anime and manga on the way.

What should you expect from me?

So what information am I going to bring you, we’ll basically everything cool I find that doesn’t even have to be Japanese, just interesting (bust most of is going to be Japanese). I plan to keep you up to date with my Japanese study. I’ll do some reviews of anime (because we all know that there aren’t enough of those on the internet ), but if you think it would be interesting following someone discovering otaku things for the first time, than this is place for you. I’m also getting a pretty good camera at Christmas so you should definitely expect a lot of photo blogging from me.
