Right now our topic in Japanese class in school is Recycling. You might have noticed that because one of my latest posts was about the smart.fm list that I made. In Japanese everyone has to recycle, it’s seen as their civic duty to help their nation. Rubbish is a threat to Japan because of their high population and no space means that they simply can’t fit all the waste. So Japan is extremely strict when it comes to recycling.

    Organising Rubbish

Anyway, today we got a poster handed to us that shows the incredible amount of energy that the Japanese put into recycling. In the poster, even with my limited (but improving) Japanese you can see how they have to separate their garbage a lot, Some categories are burnable, non-burnable, plastic, cans, metals, leather products, cardboard, glass, and even to be tied things. You can download the pdf here here I think, I know that I’m going to print it out.

  • Almost makes you not~ want to throw your stuff out!
  • Ah yes, sorting garbage is awesome. I have to do this on a daily basis now. Yeehaaa!

Yay? I can't wait to be sorting garbage daily :D
  • I don't mind the system they have here. It works fine. I like to see as much garbage recycled as possible. It just makes sense.
  • TurningOtaku
Yes it does, it's great to see some people protecting their かんきょう.
  • At my house I've only been given an English version for my area, but you can check it out on this post of mine: http://www.goddesscarlie.com/carlies-diary/livi...

The bad thing about my area is that paper and pet bottles are only collected once a month!
  • TurningOtaku
Wow, even more difficult than I imagined.
